More about Huabal & Falcon Coffees Peru:

This coffee comes from a community of small-holder producers based in the Huabal district of Cajamarca, Northern Peru. Located at high altitudes of 1700 - 1900 masl, farms are typically under two hectares and planted with Caturra, Bourbon, Catuai and Typica varieties.During harvest, producers deliver small quantities to our export partner, Falcon, whose team selects and assembles lots based on quality and cup profile.

This washed community lot is a beautifully vibrant expression of the region’s profile with creamy body with notes of brown sugar and red grapes.

Lot consolidation & quality premiums

The Falcon team receives dried parchment deliveries from the Huabal communities daily. In the warehouse and lab in Jaen, each delivery goes through physical analysis and cupping; once a lot is cupped, a same-day price offer is made. If accepted by the producer, the coffee is purchased and paid for by instant bank transfer. Keeping the loop between delivery, evaluation and payment this tight supports cash flow on farm and ensures quality—on both physicals and cup score—sets the price.

Agronomy training & support:

Aside from purchasing their coffees with quality premiums, Falcon further support growers in agronomy and processing, to improve quality while reducing agrochemical inputs and restoring soil health. They run several multi-year projects: Falcon Specialty Plus (with responsAbility) to lift cup quality and premiums—showing a +1.32 average score gain, a peak of 88, and 107 producers enrolled to date—and a Soil Health Initiative targeting 600 farmers to improve soils, reduce chemical use, and generate farm-level carbon data.
