Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the difference between Filter and Espresso?

We source and roast out coffee with their intended brewing methods in mind. Coffees from our filter range are generally roasted a little lighter, highlighting brightness, liveliness and fruit notes. Our espresso options are a little more developed ensuring a fuller body, coating mouthfeel and a balanced acidity. Always paying close attention to the particular coffee and aiming to highlight its intrinsic flavour attributes.

  • Do you sell ground coffee?

For best results we would always recommend purchasing whole bean and grinding fresh before brewing. You can find great grinder options on our webshop. If you don't have a grinder, we can grind according to your preferred brewing method just before shipping.

  • What resting time do you recommend for your coffees?

We recommend to rest our coffee for a minimum of 7 days after roasting for both Filter and Espresso brewing. We find that flavour really starts to open up from around 10-14 days onwards. Natural and Honey processed coffees seems to particularly benefit from longer resting times.

  • What is your packaging made of and how should I dispose of it responsibly?

Our 250g and 1kg bags are currently made of 80% post-consumer recycled plastic LDPE material. It can be recycled along with soft plastics in stream 4 - LDPE - in most larger supermarkets. At present we believe this to be our least harmful packaging option in terms of emissions created at the point of production as well as at time of disposal. However, we are aware that plastics are not easily not infinitely recyclable and are working on further reducing the use of plastic in our operations and exploring a paper based, recyclable solution for our 250g retail bags.

  • I’d like to buy a coffee I've had before but it's not available on the webshop - will it be back?

We focus on sourcing coffees in line with the harvest seasons in the producing countries we buy from. Most of our range, Feature Coffees in particular, is designed to be rotating and changing as and when fresh crop coffees are ready to be released from a given area. If a coffee that you've bought in the past isn't available on the webshop it has likely finished for the season and won't be back for a little while. If you need a hand choosing your next brew, just drop us a line and we’ll recommend the closest alternative.
