Our sourcing philosophy & strategies

Sourcing of the green coffee we roast and offer to all our customers is at the heart of what we do. Our green buying philosophy is centred around long-term relationships, thorough understanding of our supply chains and working in ways to have the best possible impact in growing communities. In coffee there is no one size fits all scenario nor a blueprint that can be replicated across different origin countries. Each region (sometimes even within one country) has their own specific structures, tradition, systems and challenges. We believe in understanding the specifics and working in ways that best support sustainable development through quality, profitability and with respect to the environment and natural resources.

With focus on working predominantly with coffee produced by small-scale farmers (generally with land between 0.5 and 15 hectares, majority of them with average of 1-3 hectares) we work with a small number of carefully selected exporting and importing partners whose support with logistics, financing and support in growing communities is invaluable. We have purposefully chosen to work with those partners who share our core values and commitment to supporting and maximising value for producers, improving livelihoods and working towards long-term sustainable profitability through high quality coffee, ultimately ensuring a better future for and with coffee. With particular focus on different origins countries these partners are Falcon Coffees & Siruma, Raw Material CIC, Primavera Green Coffee, Indochina Coffee.

By purchasing and enjoying the coffees we source and roast you complete the value chain and have the ultimate impact on improving many people’s live and supporting their livelihoods. Thank you for being part of our mission for:

Delicious coffee. Positive impact.

To gain a thorough understanding of our supply chains we travel as much as is possible and practicable (long haul flights have a suuuper high carbon footprint) to get acquainted with the growers behind our coffees and learn about their stories, processes, goals and successes but also struggles and challenges. Time and time again we are truly astonished by the resilience, resourcefulness and kindness of these people. Producing great coffee is incredibly hard and we never take for granted how special it is to be able to enjoy a delicious cup!
